Description
My client, a long established provider of satellites for various space missions is seeking a Systems Engineer for their internal GEO programme.
Based in Guildford, the GEO Missions and Systems Engineer will be responsible for:-
" Systems level design of GEO space systems
" Business Line Engineer for the client's internal GEO programme
Requirements
Key Purpose of Job
" Support bid activities and mission/spacecraft level studies for all types of GEO satellites.
" This role involves a mixture of mission and system engineering during bid, contractual, and mission phases.
" Responsible for the Technology Road Map for the GEO programme.
Key Tasks
" System engineer/technical lead on client's GEO missions from contract negotiations through to launch and ops. This will require involvement in assembly, integration and test phases, with direct responsibility in spacecraft
level and system end to end tests.
" Conduct customer-facing meetings and presentation at all project stages
" System level design of space and ground segments including requirements
analysis, sensitivity analysis, mission analysis and design trade-offs
" To work as part of a team in the production of concepts of operations for missions.
" Supporting the Business Line Manager (BLM) in developing the engineering aspects of the business planning for the GEO product.
" Developing and maintaining the Engineering Development Plan (EDP) for GEO satellites to satisfy the GEO Business Plan
" Supporting bids/developments throughout the company which fall into his/her Business Line
" Provide strategic steer for all bids/studies performed on GEO products, to ensure harmonisation across designs.
" To work as part of a team to perform mission and system design for studies, bids and missions.
" Preparation of technical responses to tenders for a variety of customers
" Undertake mentoring of junior members of the team/project as required.
PERSON SPECIFICATION (essential requirements)
Qualifications
" Engineering degree or equivalent
Experience
" Experienced Spacecraft Systems Engineer (ideally 10+ years experience)
" Experience of designing space missions starting from end-user requirements (ideally cradle to grave)
" Experience of designing and analysing space and ground segments to the sub-system level.
" Ideally with experience of downstream spacecraft level testing
Knowledge & Skills
" Good all round technical knowledge down to component level
" Excellent inter-personal skills - both written and oral communications; ability to interface with customer and technical representatives
" Highly organised and motivated
" Able to work under pressure
" Flexible & adaptable to changing priorities
" Able to work on a variety of projects from cradle to grave
