Description
L3 Stratis is looking for Graphics Software and Video Simulation Engineers to support development of the Constellation Training Facility (CxTF) at the NASA / Johnson Space Center (JSC). The CxTF is the high-fidelity simulation and astronaut training facility used to model the Constellation Program space vehicles, e.g., Crew Exploration Vehicle and Lunar Lander, that will take the U.S. back to the Moon and on to Mars. This facility will be used to train NASA's next generation of astronauts and flight controllers.
This work involves graphics software development, Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV) Vision Processing Unit (VPU) modeling and simulation, H.264 video coding standards, and integration on Linux PC platforms using the Trick© Simulation Environment Toolkit. Individual will develop large scale, high-fidelity simulation components for NASA's end-to-end CxTF.
Job Responsibilities include:
- Graphics software development
- Image and video processing expertise and algorithms
- CEV Vision Processing Unit (VPU) domain expertise and modeling
- Simulation math model development
- Debug, test, and verification work with simulation math models and simulation facilities
- Simulation requirements, architecture, and design
- Facility integration and testing.

This position requires a self-motivated, capable person wanting to work in a very team-oriented, friendly, but demanding environment. The ideal individual should also have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Requirements
Background & Experience
Degreed engineer with strong graphics rendering software experience, image processing and video systems expertise, superior software skills in C programming, Unix/Linux OS and scripting languages. Software simulation experience with real-time, human-in-the-loop, hardware in the loop systems.
(a) Minimum required:
Must be a U.S. Citizen. B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science + 3-5 years in either Open GL/3-D graphics software development OR image/video processing including H.264 standards. Best candidates will have both graphics software development and image / video processing backgrounds. Must have strong software skills in C or C++ language and Unix/Linux OS, preferably in software simulation environment.
Ability to manage multiple priorities with little supervision. Must be a highly responsible, team-oriented individual with strong communication skills and work ethic.
(b) Desired:
Prefer candidate with experience in NASA environment. M.S or Ph.D. is a plus with emphasis in software simulation or graphics. Experience in any of the following desired: NASA / JSC DOUG 3D graphics or Trick Simulation Environment.
