Description
Position Summary
Primary Purpose of Position;
Coordinate with other engineers in the planning, execution and implementation of Intelsat Managed GXS and Enterprise services. Coordination with Principal Engineer for internal and external functions/parties and serves as a point-of-contact on projects. Provide a sound technically engineered solution for the design and deployment of new platforms and re-engineer network as the services and demand change.
Critical Responsibilities;
1. Coordinate the planning, execution/implementation and support of INTELSAT Managed GXS & Enterprise Network Services.
2. Provide support in the design and deployment of new service platforms and re-engineer networks as required
3. Provide Level 3 engineering support to Operations.
4. Design, cost and implement new platform systems as well as changes / expansions to existing platform systems.
5. Support Operations for platform related technical and operational issues.
6. Coordinate the planning, execution/implementation and support of INTELSAT Managed GXS & Enterprise Network Services.
Important Responsibilities;
1. Work with Sales Engineering on RFP, RFI and RFQ responses for prospective customers and develop technical and commercial requirements.
2. Work with Sales, Product and Program Managers for the presentation of network solutions to customers and other external parties to clarify technical issues.
3. Author procedures for and oversee planned and emergency maintenance evolutions. This includes the use of Engineering Change Requests (ECR's) with detailed procedures for conducting the maintenance and handling failure scenarios.
4. Communicate and coordinate all aspects of the project to all affected parties.

Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Education Level; Four years college or two years of college, technical school / military with five years experience.
- Experience or Certifications for Cisco, iDirect, ViperSat, ViaSat and Tandberg would be advantageous.This position requires the individual to have the physical ability to install communications hardware in equipment racks at least seven feet high which will be located in a lab, CoLo, production or customer facility. The facilities can have varying physical and environmental conditions that may require long periods of standing in confined areas. Ability to utilize tools for making and termination of copper and fiber optic cabling. Normal hearing is required. Color vision, close vision and depth perception required.

Preferred Qualifications
- High proficiency with Layer 2, Layer 3 Routing, Routing Protocols and Switching technologies.
- High proficiency with; o iDirect platforms
o Comtech ViperSat platforms
o ViaSat – LinkStar and SurfBeam platforms
o DVB-S, DVB-S2 (Logic Innovations, Tandberg)
o Allot NetEnforcer / Packeteer
- Highly proficient in TCP/IP protocol suite, DNS and IP space management.
- Highly proficient in IP broadband systems using satellite connections.
- Proficient with Network Protocols: Unicast/Multicast, VoIP (H.323, MGCP, SIP), NAT, IPSec, QoS.
- Proficient with LAN/WAN: 10/100/1000 Ethernet, VLAN/Trunking, VTP, EtherChannel, Cable (DOCSIS) and Terrestrial Leased line.
- Proficient with Cisco routers and switches (72xx, 65xx, 38xx, 37xx, 35xx, 29xx).
- Familiar with; o RF (C Band, Ku band), IF, L-Band
o QPSK, 8PSK, FEC
o Symbol Rates and Data Rates
o VSAT
- Familiar with RF system block diagrams, EIRP link budgets and C/N.
- Familiar with RADIUS, TACAC and CiscoWorks.
- Familiar with firewalls and concentrators.
