Description

 

ORBCOMM is a wireless telecommunications company providing narrow band two-way digital messaging, data communications, and geo-positioning services on a global basis. Presently, we are recruiting for an experienced Satellite Controller to work in the Network Control Center. The Satellite Controller will perform real-time monitoring and controlling of the ORBCOMM satellites. This includes: 1) monitoring satellite subsystems via telemetry to ensure they are performing within specified guidelines per approved pass plans and procedures; 2) documentation and escalation of satellite trouble tickets; and 3) notifying appropriate satellite subsystem engineer of any anomaly and execute proper solutions as directed.

In addition, the Satellite Controller will participate in all technical functions of the satellite network control group including systems engineering, health monitoring, performance analysis, and anomaly resolution. He/ she will be responsible for maintaining the operational availability and performance of a subset of the ORBCOMM satellite constellation. Typical duties include:

  • Verifying compliance to operational constraints
  • Analyzing short- and long-term data trends
  • Supporting launch activities
  • Performing anomaly resolution

Requirements

 

General Requirements:

U.S. citizenship (or legal permanent residence)

Experience with satellite systems,

Matlab, Simulink, UNIX, STK, C++, PERL is desirable. Position is located in Dulles, Virginia and requires working 12 hour shifts (day or night) as well as some weekends and holidays.
