Title:  Spacecraft Controller

Location:  Vernon Valley, NJ

Report To:  Manager, TT&C Spacecraft Operations Vernon Valley

The Spacecraft Controller is responsible for the monitioring and the controlling of geo-stationary spacecraft for the purpose of insuring the safety of the assets, providing the best performance to our customers and maximizing the spacecraft lifetime.  He/she must be attentive to the operational status of the spacecraft and research spacecraft data anomalies and carry out error-free commands to the spacecraft avoiding service outages. He/she must therefore be experienced and knowledgable as a technologist to understand the functioning of the spacecraft and ground systems. 

 

Essential Job Functions:

·   Operate a TT&C ground station in accordance with approved procedures and the daily operations plan.

·   Monitor spacecraft telemetry data, transmits commands as required and perform ranging operations .

·   React to emergencies and make decisions within approved guidelines.

·   Notify the TT&C Manger, the appropriate Analyst or other on-call personnel of any event not covered in the plans or procedures.

·   Perform off-line data reduction tasks.

·   Operate effectively in a high-pressure work environment.

·   Operate ground station independently.

 

Requirements

 

Experience/Qualifications:

·   2-4 years of experience as a spacecraft controller or similar position.

·   Associates Associates Degree in Electronics or Computer Science or equivalent qualifications and experience.

·   Working knowledge of spacecraft subsystems and spacecraft operations.

·   Ability to safely operate spacecraft(s) to ensure high system availability.

·   Ability to communicate with people at all levels of the organization.

·   Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·   Ability to work well with others in team environment.

·   Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.

·   Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel and Access.

·   Ability to rotate shifts on 24-hour duty, 7 days per week.

·   Ability to work independently.

·   Must be US Citizen or Green Card Holder.
